Saxat från ATV sida i USA som i sin tur saxat från någon ATV blaska!2008 BF 750 takes first! Just got a new edition of ATV Magazine and there is a great article on the heavy-hitters. Here's what was tested:2008 Arctic Cat Thundercat (Ranked #5)2008 Polaris Sportsman 800 (Ranked #4)2008 Yamaha Grizzly 700 EPS (Ranked #3)2008 Can-Am Outlander 800 (Ranked #2)2008 Kawasaki Brute Force 750i (Ranked #1)2007 Suzuki King Quad 700 (Tested but unranked due to the inability to get a 2008 KQ750)Here's the overall picture;Thundercat. Extremely powerful, but manageable. More power and acceleration than you need and possibly can use. Decent ergos, but funky handlebar bend. Difficult steering with differential locked, some body roll but less than other Arctic Cats. Good ground clearance, thumb throttle too stiff. Twitchy downhill steering. Shifter works poorly and detents are the worst of the bunch. Conclusion: A heavyweight rocket in a sledgehammer package for the truly brave.Sportsman. Poor power delivery for a big v-twin. Dated strut front end. Extremely heavy. Great on board storage. Predictable steering and possibly the most comfortable rear suspension of the group. Excellent color to dress up a dated chassis and bodywork. Engine braking system one of the best. Conclusion: The same old trusted, reliable friend we all know and love.Grizzly. Somewhat weak power delivery (but then again, it's only a single cylinder). Handlebars are too high and give odd feedback with the power steering. Power steering is a big plus, but the steering stabilizer effect keeps riders from realizing they may be doing things that will damage rims/tires. Nice styling. Excessive body roll. Poor factory tire choice. Thumb throttle stiff and caused fatigue. EPS could cause over steering at higher speeds and takes some getting used to.Conclusion: EPS is the wave of the future for big bores.Outlander. Impressive power delivery which runs very close to the T-Cat. Most of the testers felt the Outlander was the fastest, but the radar checks and ET's showed the T-Cat slightly faster. Powerful sounding. Good turning radius and possibly the "sportiest" of the bunch. While powerful, the output is "peaky" with sudden jumps in power that may make technical terrain difficult. Rear rack placement resulted in hip bruising for active riders. Best gauges of the bunch. DESS a big plus. Quicker Visco engagement works much better than previous models. Handling may be too precise for some. Loud braking especially after extended use. A group (performance) favorite. Conclusion: Riding a utility ATV through the woods shouldn't be this fun.Brute Force. Powerful engine with linear increase in power and very predictable acceleration. Near the top of the pack in radar runs and ET's. Comfortable ergonomics, good steering in both 2wd and 4wd with excellent traction in 2wd that some others lacked. Good sounding exhaust. Attractive styling, colors, and good handlebar placement. Handlebar lever used to actuate the front locker is difficult to use and operate. Lack of storage space, but what is there proved to be waterproof as advertised. Belt whine is annoying and may indicate the need for frequent clutch adjustments (as other Kawis have suffered from in the past). Good machine with great looks, performance, sound, and ease of operation. Conclusion: A slim victory over the Outtie due to the fact that the motor is more linear and doesn't hit as hard. The best combination of power, handing, style, price, ease of operation, and value. Does everything either very good or excellent. A narrow victory.King Quad 700. Most comfortable seat. Great ergos. Operator controls easy to use and placement makes sense. Worst handgrips of the bunch. Engine occasionally sputters. Downhill handling very twitchy and the worst of the bunch. More predictable steering in 4wd than 2wd. Front locker works very well and is easy to use. Middle of the pack power; not the slowest but not the fastest. Foot brake lever could be difficult to use. Best footpegs and footwells of the group. One of the most comfortable.Conclusion- Can you imagine if the BF had just some slight mods! Long live the BF 750!
